Shift Supervisor at The Central Plant

 

The successful candidate will be proficient in all areas listed.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in Utility Plant operation (See below)
  • NAPE Certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first year
  • EPA refrigerant recovery certified (universal) or the ability to attain certification within the first year of employment
  • Operation of Building Management Systems, CMMS, Utility Management System, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Possess the ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Safety training including lock out tag out, confined space, fall protection, PPE, Hazmat chemical handling, first aid, CPR, and AED

 

Additional skills and experience:

  • Exhibit strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • The ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Operation of high pressure steam systems 125PSI
  • Operation of centrifugal chillers 400T and above
  • Operation and maintenance of cooling tower systems

The key responsibilities include:

  • Report to work at assigned times, in proper uniform.

  • Document plant data to logs.
  • Document plant and equipment status into the CEP log book.
  • Monitoring plant equipment (rounds).
  • Reporting deficiencies found during rounds into CMMS.
  • Perform water test and analysis results, adjusting as needed.
  • Perform assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks.
  • Perform assigned Corrective Maintenance (CM) tasks.
  • Training new employees on safe and efficient operation

of plant equipment.

  • Staying engaged in all areas of operation i.e. scheduling, procedure writing, training, suggestions for improvement etc.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of all safety procedures including lockout tag out.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.
  • Keep all areas of the CEP clean and orderly.
  • Starting, stopping and rotating equipment as needed.
  • Communicating with co-workers and customers equipment status.

Job Description (Performed daily):

The Plant Operator is responsible for the minute to minute operation of the Central Energy Plant (CEP). This person is responsible for their shift, what is accomplished and what is not.

Day to day activities: Read logbook and turn over sheet entries from previous shift.

Meet with oncoming operator going over any operating issues at shift change.

Day shift operators gather and document 0800 daily utility readings and solar totals.

Tour central plant in its entirety every two hours w/data record data on free cooling or chiller depending on what system is online.

Tour plant every four hours w/data recording all equipment in chiller room, boiler room, also fire water storage tank levels, fuel oil storage tank level, power meters, and chilled water pressure.

Water test needs to be performed within the first four hours of the shift.

When system is in service check CEM units for daily cal. Pass or fail if fail document in CEM log book and Daily log book.

Tour tower area check basin levels, clean hot boxes if needed and check Hiross level.

When HTHW system is in summer mode start HTHW pump at 0530 Thursday morning and shut down pump after water test are completed. 

Saturday, Day shift perform weekly SPCC check list.

Sunday, Day shift perform weekly eyewash station check list.

Complete all assigned PM’s or CM’s

Night shift

Responsibilities include communication with tradespeople and labor, subcontract management, change order management, submittals, change orders and closeout. Responsible for Submittals, Change Order Documentation and Project Closeout Documents thru Project Coordinator.

Subcontract management- soliciting subcontractors and negotiating subcontracts.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The position is responsible for designing solar plants and energy efficient buildings including but not limited to:

 

Power distribution design

Perform electrical demand load calculations

Develop power distribution riser diagrams

Determine   correct     wire   and   feeder     sizes   for   switchboard transformers and branch panels

Develop the design of Emergency and   uninterruptible power generation and distribution systems

Perform voltage drop calculations

Perform fault current calculations, system coordination and Arc Flash   analysis using power analysis software

Develop design specifications for power distribution systems

Solar panels / Photo-voltaic(PV) design

Conduct site feasibility studies,   solar trajectory, shading, pow output calculations

Design grid connected PV systems

Produce PV module layout plans

Develop detailed PV module layout plans to meet   all applicable codes.

Develop single-line diagrams with required   details in according with NEC

Energy efficient building envelope design

Develop energy models to analyze building energy use.

Determine appropriate design measures for different climate zones to maximize benefits from local climactic conditions and reduce energy usag
